Finding unreported judgments

NSW

The NSW Government is committed to maintaining a transparent legal system where the workings of its courts and tribunals are freely accessible to the community. In 1999 the NSW Attorney General's Department established Caselaw to meet this commitment. Both reported and unreported judgments are published on Caselaw unless there is a good reason to keep them private for a time, for example while related cases are heard.

In its first ten years Caselaw grew to store and publish over 35,000 judgments and decisions, including those from the following NSW courts and tribunals:

  • Court of Appeal
  • Court of Criminal Appeal
  • Supreme Court
  • Industrial Relations Commission
  • Land and Environment Court
  • Drug Court
  • District Court
  • Administrative Decisions Tribunal
  • Dust Diseases Tribunal
  • Medical Tribunal
  • Compensation Court
  • Fair Trading Tribunal
  • Local Court.

Other Australian jurisdictions

AustLII, the Australasian Legal Information Institute, is a joint facility of UTS and UNSW Faculties of Law. It provides online access to judgments from all Australian jurisdictions, including the courts of NSW.
